Mango and Mint Lassi

Lassi is an indian beverage which, through its ingredients, is particularly popular with spicy meals – full fat dairy products are great to stop the fire in your mouth when eating curry, unlike water. As a plus, Lassi is delicious in and of itself as a dessert.

Prep time : 10 minutes

Ingredients:

– 1 nice and ripe mango (as ripe as possible without being rotten, it’ll be that much sweeter)
– 3 plain yoghurts (choose them full fat to go with a spicy dish, it’s the yoghurt’s fat which extinguish the fire of hot pepper ; for dessert, non-fat plain yoghurts will do the job)
– some milk
– 1/2 lime
– a dozen mint leaves
– 1 tablespoon sugar
– 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Start by peeling the mango and cutting it in coarse pieces. Put the pieces in your blender and mix until you get a purée.

Add the yoghurts, the lime, the mint leaves, the sugar and cinnamon and mix again during a few minutes, in order to get a very homogeneous mix.

Put a bit of the preparation in a glass to check its thickness, dilute with milk to get the consistency you prefer. Do the same with the sugar, mixing each time you add something to the preparation until you are satisfied with it.

It’s ready!
